Instahoglets - Republican Budget Edition
Commentary By Ron Beasley
Well the Republicans have released their much anticipated "budget". As one might expect it's all about tax cuts for the wealthy. I have to wonder if they see the irony of releasing it on April Fools Day.
Kenneth Baer, the OMB communications director, said this morning,
"If you expected a GOP alternative to the failed policies of the past that got our country into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, then I have two words for you: April Fool's."
I realize that it doesn't afford me a lot of opportunities for personal or spiritual growth. But I'm nonetheless comforted by the fact that the Republicans running things in the House GOP caucus are still as clinically insane as in years past.
Ryan's budget is pretty simple (not to mention simpleminded): more of the same failed trickle down voodoo economics that has been so devastating to the vast majority of American families while enriching the 2 or 3% who donate to Republican (and too many Democratic) politicians. Even the Senate Republican caucus just patted him on the head and told him to go run along and play with himself. Ryan's a clown and nothing but a shill for the wealthy. It's a disgrace that he represents a decent, moderate middle class district in southeast Wisconsin. Next year, though, he's vulnerable to an early forced retirement.
The Republican leadership was selected for a lack of independent thought and the ability to blindly follow the leader. There is no leader and they are unable to come up with any new ideas. They can't even do sane politics.
