Joel Achenbach of the WAPO describes it as The Conservatives' Cleansing Moment. He's got it wrong, it's the conservatives' fracturing moment.  The Republican party came to power with an unholy alliance of groups with different agendas that were often contradictory. Each is now attacking the other because the see a collapse of the Republican party will endanger everyone's agenda.  That alliance is falling apart.  Jay covered the Rush VS Newt schism below.  David Frum's attack on the current CPAC conservatives is an example of another schism.  The Rush Limbaugh CPAC crowd, the stupid, and the neocons, more intellectual perhaps but insane.
