The Sound Of Republican Sphincters Puckering
By Cernig
I'm sure that there'll be plenty analysis of Obama's address to Congress on Memeorandum soon. But before all that...wow, what a speech! Forceful, inspirational, an appeal to Americans to not only pull themselves up by their bootstraps but to help others do so too - so refreshing after eight years of "I'm alright, Jack" republicanism. If he can pull off even a quarter of it, he'll keep the GOP out in the political wilderness they consigned themselves to for a generation. And their faces said they knew it, too!
I have some serious disagreements with Obama's foreign policy as delegated to the neoliberal hawks to pursue, but where he has his eye on the ball and is actively involved in the game - domestic policy - I couldn't agree more so far. Still, I'll always want to talk more about where I disagree with the powers that be. We at Newshoggers see ourselves more as critics than partisan cheerleaders.

Coming from you, that says a lot. Yeah, aside from his message, Obama was clear, crisp, focused, and energized.

My take was similar.
"Critic" is fine, but I like the term "honest broker." As the line goes - despite its scarcity, when it comes to the truth, the supply always exceeds the demand.
