President Obama: "I'm a lefty, get used to it."

Southpaw President

By Cernig

Did Obama just go wingnut baiting? He's a bright guy and had to be aware of the double meaning.

As his first official action after being sworn in, President Barack Obama signed three documents Tuesday, including a proclamation declaring a day of national renewal and reconciliation.

"I'm a lefty. Get used to it," Obama quipped as he signed his name. "I was told not to swipe the pen.

President Obama is a southpaw. But I would like to hope he knew how that soundbite would resonate with his detractors.

I doubt it. Many left handed people have said same thing.

Given the history of weird adults smacking kids with rulers, tying their left hand down all just to get them to not use their left hand Obama's comment is pretty common amongst left handed people. It hasn't been that long when being a south paw was considered really bad.

Awwww, let me daydream for a few hours, SW :-)

Regards, C

I sure knew.

I believe he knew, as well...

A great day to be a lefty, in any sense of the word.

Info, for whatever it's worth (found on infoplease.com):

The following presidents were all southpaws:

20th James A. Garfield
31st Herbert Hoover
33rd Harry S. Truman
38th Gerald Ford
40th Ronald Reagan
41st George H.W. Bush
42nd William Jefferson Clinton
44th Barack Hussain Obama

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this comment by Obama.

It offers two very clear insights: this man has a chip on his shoulder; and he's already tasting the joys of what he regards as unbridled power.

I do not trust this man. He is a demagogue with velvet gloves.

C, two comments, and I'll let you interpret them as you will.

1) You know O will never be as lefty as, well most other people who would identify themselves as such.

2) That being said, how often do you think he says anything that's an accident?

Obama loves to say things with double meanings, just so he can bait, then take it bacd and pretend that people thought something other than what he meant.

Pig with lipstick is the most notable but there are hundreds of others. He baits both the left and the right. He wants to show everyone that he is on top and they cannot touch him.

It's a little game the new Pres likes to play with the rest of the world.
