- The Pakistani Taliban are on the upswing and the Pakistani military are either unwilling or unable to fight them. I disagree with Joe Klein that it's the latter. These groups may have gone largely rogue from the original ISI plan but that doesn't change the considerable level of tacit sympathy they enjoy from their creators nor the deep connections between them and the ISI via its still-tame terrorist proxies.
