Kooky Kaynes Files Obama Eligibility Suit
By Cernig
It will never stop, you know that by now.
On November 13, Alan Keyes and his vice-presidential running mate in California, Reverend Wiley Drake, and other members of the American Independent Party, filed a new lawsuit over Barack Obama’s eligibility to be president. Keyes v Bowen, Superior Court, Sacramento, 34-2008-80000096-cu-wm-gds. Read it here.
Unlike other lawsuits about the eligibility of either John McCain or Obama to serve as president, this case has a presidential candidate plaintiff. All the other cases have been dismissed because the plaintiffs were said to lack standing. This is the first case with a presidential candidate-plaintiff.
Even when this one gets tossed out on its ear too, because Obama has the backing of the State of Hawaii which says he really was born there, the notion that Obama is ineligible and thus stole the election will persist among the wingnut black helicopter crowd for the next four years.

The thing that really bothers me about this is that it simply doesn't matter where Obama was born. He could have born in the Arctic Circle and still be a natural-born citizen. Until someone proves a conspiracy that Ann Dunham and the Dunham family had been only pretending that he was her son and their grandson -- and that Ann Dunham herself was not an American citizen -- this is just a stupid charade. (I'm particularly incensed about this because I have a teenage son who was born in England to a British father, and yet somehow the U.S. has always deemed him a natural-born citizen).
