Oregon's Senate Race
By Ron Beasley
The Senate Race between Republican incumbent Gordon Smith, Democrat Jeff Merkley and Constitution Party candidate Dave Brownlow is gaining national attention and has taken some interesting twists and turns.
-Details and videos below the fold-
Obama considers it important enough to cut an ad for Merkley - the only Senate race where he has done that.
The polls show that the Constitution Party candidate, Brownlow, getting five or six percent of the vote and all of it from Smith. As a result Smith has been forced to attack Brownlow as well as Merkley.
Chuck Todd explains that Smith can't get any votes from Merkley so he must try to get them from Brownlow.
Gordon Smith is a wingut in a State that leans blue. He is however not wingnutty enough for the lunatic fringe of the Oregon Republican party. Dave Brownlow is getting the votes of the fringe and taking them away from Smith.
