SiteMeter Problems? Try StatCounter
By Cernig
Libby has posted about the problems a lot of blogs are having with their SiteMeter code - and it appears the Rightwingers have now figured out it isn't a liberal conspiracy.
I've a suggestion for any blogger having problems - try StatCounter. It's possible to set the clock to any value - including your last SiteMeter reading, so you know where your blog's traffic is at. And you can always switch back later when SiteMeter finally get their problem fixed..
We've been using it here on Newshoggers since the beginning back in 2005 and I really like its layout. We tried SiteMeter in tandem with it for a couple of months, but then didn't bother with the better known counter when we moved the blog to this site back in April. The data on referral sites and drill-down ability on individual visitors are invaluable for figuring out where traffic is coming from. You can have a look at some of the features using our traffic data here.
Just a thought.

Ouch! That's why I developed my own web analyitcs app: http://www.i-stats.com and Google Analytics is NOT real-time (I have no idea how they can get away with that), so if you use Google Analytics and your site is mentioned on a high traffic blog, you won't know until a day or so later...
