Hail Mary Pass
By Ron Beasley
This makes no sense:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Is McCain's Choice for VP
She’s going to make us pine for the days of Dan Quayle, methinks.
I guess the only way the McCain campaign thought they could draw attention away from the successful Democratic convention was to do something really stupid. More from James Joyner:
I’d never heard of Palin before the VP buzz started on the blogs a while back. She’s supposedly an excellent campaigner. And, obviously, her youth and gender make her a bold pick. Ultimately, though, I think she doesn’t make sense. If you’re running on “the country’s security is too important to be run by neophytes,” you can’t have one as next in line.
While Joe Biden was, twice, an awful presidential candidate, he’s a plausible president. Sarah Palin is not.
And do they really think they can pick up Hillary Clinton supporters with a social conservative woman who if anything is the anti-Hillary?

Hi Ron,
While Palin's inexperienced she's no idiot. I've a feeling Quayle comparisons are setting Biden up for a debate fall. If she exceeds very low expectations and he only matches very high ones, the mainstream will paint her as the winner.

Unlike Obama McCain didn't have to choose someone to make up for his lack of experience and ability.
