Iraqi Election Newspeak

By Cernig

Napoleon Maliki hath spoken:

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says provincial elections due later this year will be staggered over several days to ensure the safety of voters and prevent the rigging of results.

The elections are to be held before Oct. 1 and will be the first provincial vote in Iraq since January 2005. The next general election is not due until December 2009.

A statement by al-Maliki's office quoted him as saying in a meeting Sunday with the U.N. chief envoy in Iraq Staffan de Mistura that his government is "determined" to create a "suitable" climate for the vote to ensure its "integrity."

The climate Maliki is determined to create is one where dissident Sunni and Shiite voices are repressed at gunpoint under cover of snark-hunts for Iran-backed "special groups" that aren't the ISCI or Badr Brigade and desperate AlQaida terrorists who happen to be Sunni students and teachers captured in their hundreds with only a single death.

That's really going to ensure the "integrity" of the vote - and having several days worth of time to rig the ballot boxes will really help ensure the election continues to uphold the integrity of those political parties who are currently in power and currently backing the US occupation.

I wonder what will happen to the Quisling Iraqi "government" when the US eventually packs up and leaves?
